Flagging operations on Hwy 50 in Farmington and Hampton begin April 24
The first of two weekend full closures begin April 27
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – Motorists who travel both directions of Highway 50 between Highway 3 in Farmington and Highway 52 in Hampton should plan for delays and intermittent slow traffic as the road is reduced to a single lane controlled by flaggers beginning Tuesday, April 24.
The single lane for flagging operations will occur daily between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. through late August. Expect major delays for the duration of the project.
The flagging operations and single lane restriction mark the beginning of a summer long Highway 50 project to add right turn lanes, renew signing, modify the County Road 80 and County Road 81 intersection and resurface the road.
Beginning at 8 p.m. Friday, April 27, Highway 50 will be closed and detoured between Highway 3 in Farmington and Highway 52 in Hampton for the first of two weekend closures (weather permitting). The closure is necessary as crews install pipes beneath the road. During the two weekend closures, there will be no thru access from Highway 3 to Highway 52.
All lanes are expected to reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, April, 30. During the full closure motorists should follow the signed detour using County Road 66.
The second full closure for this same section of road is scheduled for 8 p.m. Friday, May 4 through 5 a.m. Monday, May 7.
