MnDOT cancels southbound Interstate 35E full closures this weekend between I-35 in Columbus and I-694 in Vadnais Heights
Repairs to be scheduled spring 2018
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – The Minnesota Department of Transportation is cancelling a planned weekend full closure of southbound Interstate 35E for concrete repairs in the northeast Twin Cities Metro area. Once again the closure has been cancelled due to the threat of inclement weekend weather.
With cold temperatures and snow expected, MnDOT will reschedule repairs to the southbound roadway until next spring. Repairs are needed on the contraction joints running across the full width of the highway between I-35 in Columbus and I-694 in Vadnais Heights. The joints allow the pavement to expand and contract with the rise and fall of temperatures, which helps prevent cracks or other damage to the pavement. Repairs to the northbound lanes of the interstate in the same area were made three weekends ago.
