Single lane traffic on westbound I-94 in the East Metro scheduled Oct. 20-21
Rainy weather could cause work to continue into Sunday afternoon, Oct. 22
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Motorists will encounter single lane traffic on westbound Interstate 94 from Maplewood to St. Paul this weekend.
Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, Oct. 20 through 5 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 21, westbound I-94 between Highway 120/Century Avenue and Mounds Boulevard will be reduced to a single lane.
The lane closures are needed to finish permanent pavement striping on the roadway. Crews originally expected to complete this work on Friday, Oct. 20. However, some work has been delayed due to weather. Dry weather conditions are needed to do pavement striping.
If crews encounter more rain on Saturday, Oct. 21, lane closures on westbound I-94 may continue through Sunday, Oct. 22.
The Interstate 94 reconstruction and improvement project will provide a smoother, safer, long-lasting road with better pedestrian accessibility and improved drainage capabilities. Performing periodic pavement repairs at the appropriate times can greatly increase a road’s lifespan. The project helps ensure MnDOT’s transportation system will continue to serve the state for many years. Construction is expected to be complete by late-fall 2017.
