I-94 east closed at Portland Tunnel overnight Thursday
ROSEVILLE, Minn. — A stretch of Interstate 94 east in Minneapolis will be closed late Thursday into Friday while crews work inside the Portland Avenue Tunnel.
The date was changed this week to accommodate traffic from the Aquatennial Torchlight Parade.
I-94 east will close at the Portland Avenue Tunnel at 11 p.m. Thursday, July 20 and is scheduled to reopen at 5 a.m. Friday, July 21. The work is weather permitting.
Motorists will be detoured to I-35W south to 46th Street to I-35W north to I-94 east.
The ramp from I-394 east to I-94 east will also be closed. This will reduce eastbound traffic in the Lowry Hill Tunnel to one lane.
This work had been previously being scheduled for July 11-12 and July 19-20.
The work is part of the Minnesota Department of Transportation’s I-94 Minneapolis to Brooklyn Center project that started in March.
