I-35E lane closures in St. Paul scheduled May 12-16

ROSEVILLE, Minn. — Motorists will encounter periodic closures of the MnPASS Express Lanes on I-35E near Maryland Avenue in St. Paul starting Friday, May 12 through Tuesday, May 16, weather permitting.

Beginning at 9 p.m. Friday, May 12, the northbound MnPASS lane will close between Cayuga Street and Larpenteur Avenue. At 10 p.m. May 12, the southbound MnPASS lane will close in this area. The lanes will remain closed through the weekend and reopen by 5 a.m. Monday, May 15.

On Monday and Tuesday, May 15 and 16, the northbound MnPASS lane will close from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The lane closures are needed to remove temporary concrete barriers and construct the final portion of permanent concrete median just north of Maryland Avenue. The temporary barriers had remained in place after previous lane shifts for bridge construction as part of the I-35E Cayuga project. The I-35E Cayuga project reconstructed I-35E between University Avenue and Maryland Avenue, including replacement of the Cayuga Bridge, the Pennsylvania Avenue Bridge and the railroad bridges along I-35E.
