Hwy 51/Snelling Avenue construction project begins April 3
ROSEVILLE, Minn. – A project to repair and replace concrete pavement on Highway 51/Snelling Avenue, between Como Avenue in St. Paul and Highway 36 in Roseville, begins Monday, April 3.
The project will repair concrete pavement on Snelling Avenue, build a right turn lane from eastbound Larpenteur Avenue to southbound Snelling Avenue, construct a new left turn lane from northbound Snelling Avenue to County Road B.
In addition, the work includes upgrading the signal systems at the intersections of Snelling Avenue at County Road B and Larpenteur Avenue. Sidewalks and ramps also will be upgraded to Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) standards.
As work begins, motorists will encounter a single lane of traffic in each direction of Snelling Avenue between Como Avenue and Larpenteur Avenue. Work also will begin on construction of the new left turn lane from northbound Snelling Avenue to westbound County Road B.
There will be no construction activities and all lanes of traffic will be open during the Minnesota State Fair from Monday, Aug. 21 through Tuesday, Sept. 5, 2017 as well as during the ‘Back to the 50s’ car show Thursday, June 22 to Tuesday, June 26.
The project is scheduled to be completed in early Oct. 2017. When completed, the project will provide a smoother roadway surface and improved pedestrian safety.
