The FAST Act continues the CMAQ program, providing funds for transportation projects to help meet the requirements of the Clean Air Act. Funding is available to reduce congestion and improve air quality. In Minnesota, funds are administered by the Transportation Advisory Board.  Changes include:

  • Eligibility for verified technologies for non-road vehicles and non-road engines that are used in port-related freight operations
  • Makes eligible the installation of vehicle-to-infrastructure communications equipment
  • Continues eligibility for electric vehicle and natural gas vehicle infrastructure and adds priority for infrastructure located on designated corridors

The final rule for CMAQ programs has not yet been issued.  The proposed rule was made available for comments on April 22, 2016.
