TRAVEL ADVISORY: Hazardous road condition along Hwy 67 south of Granite Falls
WILLMAR, Minn. – (5:00 p.m.) A portion of the roadway just west of the Yellow Medicine River Bridge on Highway 67 south of Granite Falls (near the state park entrance) has shifted, causing a significant drop in the driving lane and creating a hazardous condition. The Minnesota Department of Transportation has put up barricades and motorists are restricted from using the roadway at this location.
Currently, Highway 67 (between 558th Street and 255th Avenue) is closed due to flooding and the existing detour will remain in place. Traffic will continue to be routed on Highway 23, Highway 274, and County Road 18 until further notice.
When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
Check www.511mn.org before traveling for information on road conditions, closures and detour routes.
