No travel advised on Hwy 4 between Cosmos and Hector

WILLMAR, Minn. – (5:30 p.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) is advising no travel on Highway 4 between Cosmos (Meeker County) and Hector (Renville County) due to blowing snow and whiteout conditions.

This is the fifth no travel advisory that has been issued for parts of southwest Minnesota today, and now includes all or portions of Lac qui Parle, Chippewa, Kandiyohi, Yellow Medicine, Renville, Lincoln, Lyon, Murray, Redwood, Pipestone and Meeker counties.

State snowplows in southwest Minnesota continue to operate through the storm at this time, but motorists are advised not to travel until conditions improve. As the storm continues to progress, we may experience no travel advisories in other portions of southwest Minnesota.

The public can view winter road conditions from plow cameras available through the www.511mn.org website. Please note that not all plows have cameras. Road conditions on major highways can also be viewed through the Road Weather Information System (RWIS), which is also part of 511.
