Public open house for Hwy 23 project to be held in Spicer
WILLMAR, Minn. – MnDOT is hosting an open house on Tuesday, May 29 from 4:30-6 pm at Spicer City Hall (217 Hillcrest Ave. in Spicer) to discuss the upcoming Highway 23 project.
The Highway 23 project includes the resurfacing of Highway 23 from the Jct of Highway 23/US 71 to the Jct of Highway 23/CR 31 (end of four lane) in New London. The project also includes updating sidewalks and pedestrian crossings to meet Americans with Disabilities standards in Spicer. ADA work will take place from W South Street to Miller Street.
Benefits of the project include a smoother road surface and sidewalks and pedestrian crossings that comply with ADA standards. The estimated project cost is $3.4 million. This project is tied to the resurfacing project which will take place on Highway 71 from the intersection of Highway 9 to Highway 55 in Belgrade. Both projects will be done under traffic and will not need a detour.
The Highway 23 project is scheduled to begin on August 13 with ADA work in Spicer. The resurfacing project will start in September after Labor Day. The project is anticipated to be complete by the end of September. Duininck Inc. is the contractor on the project.
