Detour on Hwy 75 in Pipestone to be removed May 22

WILLMAR, Minn. – The Highway 75 detour in Pipestone will be removed today, May 22, 2018 no later than 9 p.m.  The detour was required for the utility work the city of Pipestone completed from Highway 30 to 4th Street NE.  The Highway 75 work being conducted by MnDOT will continue, under traffic, utilizing alternating lane closures.  Motorists should anticipate short delays.

The project includes the resurfacing of Highway 75 from the south intersection of Highway 23 to the intersection of Highway 75/Highway 23 in Pipestone.  A continuous left turn lane will also be constructed.  Pedestrian crossings will be updated along the project are to meet Americans with Disabilities (ADA) standards.  The total project area is approximately ½ mile in length. 

Benefits of the project include a smoother road surface, enhanced safety and compliance with the Americans with Disabilities Act.  The project cost is estimated at $1.8 million and is estimated to be complete by mid-June.  Duininck Inc. is the contractor on the project.
