MnDOT releases summary of public engagement activities for Hwy 12 Litchfield project
WILLMAR, Minn. — MnDOT will reconstruct four blocks of Highway 12 and Highway 22 through downtown Litchfield from Commercial Street to 4th Street starting in 2019. The project includes the reconstruction of the existing sidewalks from building face to building face. Pedestrian crossings will be updated to meet Americans with Disabilities standards.
MnDOT has been working throughout the summer to gather feedback from the community. The first open house was held on June 16 at the Litchfield City Hall. Representatives from MnDOT and Bolton & Menk (consultant on the project) were also present at the Arts in the Park event (Watercade) and at the Meeker County Fair to speak with community members and take their feedback. A special open house for businesses was held on July 18 in partnership with the Litchfield Chamber of Commerce. An on-line survey was also open from mid-July through mid-August. A total of over 830 people participated in engagement opportunities.
Information on all public engagement activities was presented to the Litchfield City Council at the Sept. 5, 2017 meeting. The city will determine which amenities to include in the final plan. A full summary of all public engagement work is available on the project webpage at www.dot.state.mn.us/d8/projects/hwy12litchfield.
MnDOT would like to thank all the community members that participated throughout the summer. Your feedback is greatly appreciated.
