Hwy 59 project starts Monday, Sept. 11
WILLMAR, Minn. — The Highway 59 project near Marshall starts Monday, Sept. 11. The project includes the construction of a left turn lane at the intersection of Highway 59 and Lyon CR 6.
Starting Sept. 11, Lyon CR 6 (east) will be closed for two weeks. Traffic will be detoured from Lyon CR 6 to CR 9 north, to Highway 19 west to Marshall then back down to CR 6/Highway 59 to head back west on CR 6. This will be the only detour. Lyon CR 6 will be open to local traffic.
The road will be open to traffic during the rest of the work. Traffic will be reduced to one lane and directed with a pilot car and flagger. There will be a width limit restriction of 11 feet in place. Motorists should anticipate delays.
R & G Construction is the contractor on the project. The total project cost is $550,000. For more information on the project visit www.mndot.gov/d8/projects/hwy59lyoncounty6/.
MnDOT asks motorists to slow down and pay attention while driving through work zones. Motorists who speed through a work zone or who disobey work zone flaggers face a $300 fine.
