Survey on Hwy 12 Downtown Litchfield project open until August 14

WILLMAR, Minn. — A survey taking feedback on the Highway 12 Downtown Litchfield project is open until August 14. Residents are encouraged to take the short survey so that MnDOT can better gather feedback on project components such as street lighting, intersection options at Highway 12 and 3rd Street and street trees.

MnDOT will reconstruct four blocks of Highway 12 and Highway 22 through downtown from Commercial Street to 4th Street. The project includes the reconstruction of the existing sidewalks from building face to building face. Pedestrian crossings will be updated to meet Americans with Disabilities standards.

Since much of the Highway 12 reconstruction project is located within and near the Litchfield Historic Commercial District and other historic properties, the Section 106 review process is a crucial component to the project.

MnDOT is working throughout the summer to gather feedback from the community. The first open house was held on June 16 at Litchfield City Hall. Representatives from MnDOT and Bolton & Menk (consultants on the project) were present at Watercade at the Arts in the Park event on July 8 taking feedback and two open houses for businesses are being held July 18 at the Litchfield Opera House.

The on-line survey is available now at https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/Litchfield2019.  For more information on the project visit the webpage at www.mndot.gov/d8/projects/hwy12litchfield.
