Detour for westbound Hwy 60 at Wilder to be removed mid-week

MANKATO, Minn. – The detour for westbound Highway 60 near Wilder is expected to be removed by mid-week, next week (Oct. 1-5), weather permitting.

The detour was put in place on September 11 to allow crews to repair a depression in the lanes.

Mainline paving has been complete and work on shoulders is progressing.  Seeding and striping need to take place in dry conditions for the highway to open to traffic.

Motorists are cautioned to never drive around a road closed barrier.

The project included re-grading the area of the depression in the westbound lanes and repaving.  The dip may have been due to problems with remaining materials from the old road bed.  Moisture and frost heaves caused a severe bump, mainly in the spring that continued to grow over the years.

Mathiowetz Construction Company of Sleepy Eye was awarded the contract with a bid of $394,624.
