Flooding on Minnesota highways in Rock and Nobles Counties improving
I-90 eastbound only near South Dakota border now open; Hwy 59 north of Worthington now open
MANKATO, Minn. — (1:30 p.m.) Flooding on Minnesota highways in Rock and Nobles Counties is slowly improving. The eastbound lanes of Interstate 90 at Beaver Creek near South Dakota border opened around noon today. Hwy 59 at the north edge of Worthington also opened around noon.
Highways closed as of 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21:
- I-90 at Beaver Creek – westbound lanes only
The Minnesota Department of Transportation continues to closely monitoring the situation and will provide updates as information becomes available. However, motorists should be alert to rising waters throughout the day and be prepared to turn around if necessary.
MnDOT warns motorists that driving through water is dangerous. Vehicles can be swept away in only several inches of moving water. Motorists are encouraged to check 511mn.org for the latest road information.
