MnDOT reminds motorists to use posted detour for Hwy 22 and Blue Earth County Road 90 construction
MANKATO, Minn. – Construction of a roundabout is underway for the intersection of Highway 22 and Blue Earth County Road 90, and the Minnesota Department of Transportation is reminding motorists to use the posted detour and business wayfinding routes.
Mankato Township recently closed Pohl Road to through traffic as a result of motorists using it as an alternative route to the detour for Highway 22 and County Road 90 construction. Pohl Road is not a part of the posted construction detour, as it’s not able to handle elevated traffic counts.

Construction at the intersection of Highway 22 and County Road 90 started Wednesday, June 6. During roundabout construction, traffic is being detoured on County Road 10 and Highway 83. Businesses along Highway 22 near County Road 90 will have local access routes available.
In addition to the construction of a roundabout to improve safety, the project also includes the addition of left turn lanes into residential areas north and south of County Road 90 and a structural snow fence in the northwest corner to reduce drifting.
Work is also in progress on a separate Highway 22 reconstruction project from Beauford to Blue Earth County Road 15. This phase of Highway 22 construction started in April and is anticipated to continue through October. It’s an extension of 2017 construction that was completed from Mapleton to County Road 10 at Beauford.
