Third Street and Potter Street intersection to close Oct. 28-Nov. 1 near Red Wing Bridge for paving work
RED WING, Minn. — The intersection of Third Street and Potter Street near the Red Wing Bridge will be closed beginning Monday, Oct. 28 for five days to complete paving, according to MnDOT and the Wisconsin Department of Transportation.
Access to Red Wing businesses and parking lots will continue, but motorists will not be able to travel through the intersection during the paving work. The intersection is expected to open by Friday, Nov. 1.
Meanwhile, crews are working on the new bridge to get it open to traffic this fall. A ribbon cutting ceremony to mark the start of traffic on the new bridge is tentatively scheduled for Nov. 14, but the date could be moved depending on construction progress in the coming weeks.
The Highway 63 Bridge project includes building a new bridge to replace the Highway 63 Bridge, replacing the historic slip ramp Highway 63 Bridge over Highway 61, reconstructing approach roadways in Minnesota and Wisconsin, improving access to Red Wing and upgrading pedestrian and bicyclist crossings. Zenith Tech, Inc., is the prime contractor on the $63.4 million construction project. Traffic on the new bridge is expected by fall 2019.
