Hwy 218 detoured south of Austin to remove truck from ditch
AUSTIN, Minn. — (1:30 p.m.) Traffic on Hwy 218 south of Austin is being temporarily detoured, while crews remove a semi tractor-trailer that crashed in the ditch during this week’s winter weather, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
A tow truck will be used to tip the vehicle upright and then be towed out of the ditch south of Austin. A detour route is marked and MnDOT maintenance vehicles will direct traffic at each corner on the route around the wreck.
The road is expected to open later Friday afternoon once the work is complete.
