Lane shift on Highway 58 at Main and Third streets in Red Wing begins Sept. 14

RED WING, Minn. — Northbound Highway 58 (Plum Street) traffic will be shifted beginning Sept. 14 between Main Street and Third Street for approximately 14 days, while crews remove pavement, remove and install new drainage structures and an overhead sign base, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Beginning Friday, Sept. 14, northbound traffic will be shifted into the closed left turn lane. There will be no parking and sidewalks will be closed to the east of Highway 58 (Plum) south of Third Street. Third Street businesses between Potter and Plum can be accessed via the alleys.

The Highway 63/Eisenhower Bridge project includes building a new bridge to replace the Highway 63/Eisenhower Bridge, replacing the historic slip ramp Highway 63 Bridge over Highway 61, reconstructing approach roadways in Minnesota and Wisconsin, improving access to Red Wing and upgrading pedestrian and bicyclist crossings. The prime contractor on this $63.4 million construction project is Zenith Tech. The new bridge is expected to open to traffic by fall of 2019.
