Intermittent night time Hwy 61 delays July 26 for equipment moving near Red Wing Bridge
RED WING, Minn. — Motorists are expected to experience brief traffic delays on Highway 61 near the Highway 63/Eisenhower Bridge in Red Wing on Thursday, July 26 from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m., as crews move equipment from an adjacent bridge, according to the Minnesota and Wisconsin departments of transportation.
Delays should not exceed 10 minutes during the overnight hours. Flaggers will stop traffic in both directions of Highway 61 while the equipment is being moved from the east side of the highway to the west side of the highway.
The Highway 63/Eisenhower Bridge project includes building a new bridge to replace the Highway 63/Eisenhower Bridge, replacing the historic slip ramp Highway 63 Bridge over Highway 61, reconstructing approach roadways in Minnesota and Wisconsin, improving access to Red Wing and upgrading pedestrian and bicyclist crossings. The prime contractor on this $63.4 million construction project is Zenith Tech. The new bridge is expected to open to traffic by fall of 2019.
