Weeklong traffic delays possible on Hwy 14 east of Rochester starting May 29
ROCHESTER, Minn. — Motorists on Highway 14 between Chester and St. Charles should expect single lane traffic and short delays between beginning Tuesday, May 29 for pavement preservation work, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Motorists on Hwy 14 will be stopped by flaggers who will ensure groups of vehicles safely move one direction through the construction zone while the other direction of traffic is stopped. Groups of traffic will take turns using the single open lane while being directed by flaggers. Short waits are possible. Motorists should note that Highway 14 is also the detour route for Olmsted County Road 9, which is closed for roundabout construction on Highway 42, so additional traffic might be present.
This work is expected to be completed in one week, weather permitting. Fahrner Asphalt Sealers, Inc., of Plover Wis., is the prime contractor.
Motorists should always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones. For real-time traffic information in Minnesota, call 511 or visit 511mn.org.
