Hwy 30 culvert repair work in Olmsted, Fillmore counties starts Sept. 25, expect traffic delays

CHATFIELD, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 30 between Stewartville and Rushford may encounter short traffic delays as crews repair culverts beginning Monday, Sept. 25, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Crews will begin near Stewartville and move east toward Rushford. During the work, motorists should be alert to flaggers directing traffic through the construction zone which may require traffic to be reduced to one lane. Lane and shoulder closures will occur as the crews move east on Hwy 30.

Workers will repair numerous culverts, with a variety of fixes during this project. Many culverts will get new liners to increase its service life. Culverts help guide water around or under roads, which is a key function to ensure longevity of the road and direct water properly.

SubSurface, Inc. of Moorhead, Minnesota is the prime contractor on this $367,000 project. Work is scheduled to be complete in mid-November.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
