Hwy 65 traffic in Albert Lea detoured for Union Pacific rail crossing repairs
ALBERT LEA, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 65 in Albert Lea will encounter a detour through Aug. 30 while the Union Pacific Railroad reconstructs its crossing at South Broadway (Hwy 65) and Front Street, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
Union Pacific will be doing reconstruction and repairs at the crossing. The work began today, Aug. 23 and will continue through Aug. 30, when it will reopen.
Hwy 65 will be closed at the crossing during the repair work, so motorists will follow the signed detour. Detour signs are placed through the affected area to guide motorists around the closure. No through traffic is allowed.
MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
