Temporary traffic signals at Hwy 52 Cannon Falls interchange used to ensure safety

CANNON FALLS, Minn. – Motorists are reminded to obey the temporary traffic signals at the interchange of Highway 52 and Goodhue County Road 24 in Cannon Falls to ensure that there is safe one-way passage over the highway bridge, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.

Temporary traffic signals are in place during the current stage of construction, while concrete work is being completed. One way traffic is only allowed over the bridge with the signal determining which direction takes a turn to travel. The signal timing is set to allow for full, safe one-way passage across the bridge from the traffic ramps.

Emergency responders have priority when crossing through the construction zone to respond to emergencies.

Rochester Sand and Gravel is the prime contractor on the $251,000 project. The construction work will repair and improve the roadways and roundabouts at the interchange of Highway 52 exit 96. Work is expected to be completed in mid-June, weather permitting.
To learn more about the project or sign up for email updates, go to MnDOT’s project web page at www.mndot.gov/d6/projects/hwy52-roundabout/ or visit www.mndot.gov/d6/projects/hwy52corridor/ to learn more about Hwy 52 road construction between Rochester and Rosemount.

MnDOT urges motorists to always be attentive, drive with caution, slow down in work zones and never enter a road blocked with barriers or cones.
