Work on Hwy 52 interchange in Cannon Falls to begin April 24
CANNON FALLS, Minn. – Construction work on the Highway 52 interchange at Goodhue County Road 24 is scheduled to begin April 24 with flaggers controlling traffic between roundabouts on the frontage roads and the highway ramps, according to the Minnesota Department of Transportation.
The construction work will repair and improve the roadways and roundabouts at the interchange of Highway 52 exit 96. Work is expected to be completed by late-May or early-June, weather permitting.
During the first stage, flaggers will control traffic between the roundabouts while crews remove the raised medians. Brief traffic delays will occur as flaggers allow alternating traffic to take turns safely passing. Some night work may occur as well.
The bridge and highway ramps will remain open during the project, but with traffic control measures, such as flaggers or temporary signals to allow traffic and construction work to occur simultaneously.
The eastside traffic ramps and bridge access from that side to the west side of Highway 52 will be closed for two nights toward the end of the project. A detour will be established in the evening with traffic reopening by morning. MnDOT will provide information on the closure in advance.
