Public invited to open house at new MnDOT truck station in Evansville on Dec. 10
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. — The Minnesota Department of Transportation invites the public to attend an open house on Tuesday, Dec. 10, from 3:00 to 6:30 p.m., at the MnDOT truck station in Evansville, 20874 County Road 82 NW. This is a free event for the entire community to come check out the new facility, which was completed in spring of 2019.
At the event, the public will have the opportunity to tour the buildings, meet local staff, and learn more about the equipment MnDOT uses to maintain federal and state highways in the area.
MnDOT’s new District 4 campus includes a new 9,500-square-foot facility with office space and warm storage, new cold storage, new salt shed and a large-capacity brine building. Brine is a liquid chemical that activates the salt used on icy roadways. On-site brine-making capabilities will enable crews to clear the roads faster while reducing overall salt usage.
The extra storage space also allows MnDOT to house two tow plows in Evansville, which will greatly benefit the area during the winter months.
The new truck station was constructed next to the old building, which was built in 1963 and no longer met the space requirements needed for today’s level of operations. The old building has been taken down.
MnDOT District 4 is comprised of more than 1,567 miles of state highway across 12 counties in west central Minnesota. There are 17 truck stations located throughout District 4 in Alexandria, Appleton, Barnesville, Benson, Breckenridge, Detroit Lakes, Evansville, Fergus Falls, Glenwood, Hawley, Henning, Mahnomen, Moorhead, Morris, Perham, Ortonville, and Wheaton.
Minnesota Department of Transportation (MnDOT) invites and encourages participation by all. We believe everyone should have an equal opportunity to enjoy the programs, services and activities we provide. If you feel you need a reasonable accommodation in order to fully participate in this event, such as an ASL or spoken language interpreter, or need documents in an alternate format, such as braille or large print, please contact: Janet Miller at 651-366-4720 or e-mail ADArequest.firstname.lastname@example.org as soon as possible but no later than 48 hours before the scheduled event.
