Hwy 55 closed between Hwy 59 and Wendell
DETROIT LAKES, Minn. – (2:10 p.m.) The Minnesota Department of Transportation and the Minnesota State Patrol closed Hwy 55 between Hwy 59 and Wendell. The road is closed due a snow drift that is making the road impassible. Crews are currently working on removing the drift. The road will remain closed until the drift is removed.
Motorists should plan accordingly. When a road is closed it is illegal to travel in that area. Motorists can be fined up to $1,000 and/or sentenced to 90 days in jail. In addition, if travelers need to be rescued from a closed road, other expenses and penalties will apply.
