Highway 28/Minnesota Avenue in Glenwood now open to traffic
The final detour on Highway 28/Minnesota Avenue in Glenwood has been removed and the roadway is now open to traffic. Highway 28/Minnesota Avenue has been closed in stages since April as part of a resurfacing and reconstruction project on Highways 28, 29 and 104 in the city of Glenwood.
As crews continue to complete final striping and other cleanup work under traffic, the Minnesota Department of Transportation urges motorists to slow down, eliminate distractions and drive with caution.
The project has been a collaboration between MnDOT, Pope County and the City of Glenwood to address pavement concerns, pedestrian accessibility requirements, traffic flow, utility needs and boulevard improvements. In addition, six blocks of Highway 28/Minnesota Avenue in downtown Glenwood were reconstructed using a Complete Streets concept.
MnDOT appreciates the public’s patience, support and commitment to safety during all phases of construction.
Riley Bros Construction, based in Morris, was the prime contractor for the $9.3 million project. For more information about the project, visit mndot.gov/d4/projects/glenwood.
