Community invited to celebrate the opening of Highway 27 in downtown Little Falls Sept. 5
BAXTER, Minn. — All lanes and sidewalks east of the Mississippi River on the Highway 27 construction project were completed on Aug. 23, just in time for the upcoming Little Falls Craft Fair. To mark the occasion, the city of Little Falls and the ‘The Big Dig’ committee invite the public to a ribbon cutting celebration at 10 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 5.
The event will be held on Highway 27 just east of Banker’s Square. The road will be closed for event attendees between First Street and Second Street from approximately 9 a.m. to 11 a.m. Parking is available east and west of Highway 27 near the Morrison County Court House.
Motorists will be rerouted along side streets during the two hour closure. Watch and obey law enforcement directing travelers through the area.
Highway 27 remains an active work zone on the west side of Little Falls. The road is closed from Paul Larson Memorial Drive to Eighth Street through September. Watch for closed areas and directional signs when navigating through the area.
When complete in October, the $7.6 million improvement project will reconstruct or resurface two miles of Highway 27 between 15th Street W and Ninth Street E, install new underground city utilities, curb, gutter and sidewalk, improve signals and adjacent entrance connections.
