Hwy 55 Brooten to Regal segments reduced to single lane beginning Oct. 1

ST CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists who travel Highway 55, between Ash Avenue in Brooten, and the Stearns/Kandiyohi county line west of Regal, will encounter delays while segments of the road are reduced to a single lane from sunrise to sunset, up to seven days per week, while crews resurface the road beginning after 7 a.m. Monday, Oct. 1.

Flaggers and a pilot car will allow one-way, alternating traffic through each day’s work zone. Motorists entering any Highway 55 work zone from an intersecting road or driveway must wait for the pilot car to pass then follow it through the work zone.

All lanes of Highway 55 between Brooten and Regal will open in late-November.

The closures are needed while crews resurface most areas of Highway 55. The segments of Highway 55 through downtown Brooton and Belgrade will not be resurfaced in 2018, as a separate project to reconstruct Highway 55 through both Brooten and Belgrade is planned for 2021.

When complete, the 2018 resurfacing project will result in a smoother ride and preserve the pavement along 12.6 miles of Highway 55.
