Hwy 95 in Princeton closes after roundabout project begins May 7
ST. CLOUD, Minn. – Motorists who travel Hwy 95 through Princeton will encounter delays and a detour after a project to construct a roundabout at the Hwy 95/County Road 157 intersection begins Monday, May 7.
Beginning Monday, May 7, Hwy 95 and County Road 157 will be intermittently reduced to a single lane with flaggers allowing one way, alternating through the work zones.
Beginning the week of May 14 through mid-July, Hwy 95 and County Road 157 will close at the Hwy 95/County Road 157 intersection, located just west of Hwy 169 in Princeton. Motorists who travel Hwy 95 through Princeton should follow the signed detour along Hwy 95, County Road 3/100th Avenue, County Road 31/First Street, and County Road 29/Rum River Drive. Motorists who travel from Hwy 169 and westbound Hwy 95, to the business district west of Hwy 169 in Princeton, may use the temporary road connecting Hwy 95 directly to 19th Avenue N.
All lanes of Hwy 95, County Road 157, and the new Hwy 95/County Road 157 roundabout, will open by mid-August.
The project will replace the existing Hwy 169/County Road 157 intersection with a new roundabout, install new overhead LED lighting at the intersection, upgrade underground utilities and road signs, install a new sidewalk from 100th Avenue, along Highway 95 and County Road 157, to 5th Street N, and make other pedestrian crossing improvements.
When complete, the project will improve traffic flow and safety at the busy intersection serving motorists, pedestrians and a growing business development west of Hwy 169 in Princeton.
The project is being led by Mille Lacs County in cooperation with the city of Princeton and MnDOT.
