Lane closures on Hwy 1 between Redby and Shooks begin tomorrow
BEMIDJI, Minn. – Motorists on Highway 1 will encounter lane closures between Redby and Shooks as a 12-mile construction project begins Tuesday, July 24.
Crews will begin reconstructing the roadway from the eastern border of the Red Lake Indian Reservation to the west junction of Highway 72/Busy Corner. The work includes replacing the entire pavement surface and three centerline culverts, as well as adding rumble strips along the shoulder.
During this work, flaggers and a pilot car will control traffic and motorists should plan for lane closures in the area where crews are working.
The project is expected to last through mid-August, weather permitting. Once completed, motorists will experience a smoother, longer-lasting road surface.
MnDOT urges motorists to always drive with caution, and reminds them to slow down in the work zone and never enter a roadway that has been blocked with barriers or cones.
