Hwy 70 and County Road 7 bridge reconstruction in Pine County postponed
The Minnesota Department of Transportation is postponing reconstruction of the Highway 70 and County Road 7 bridges in Pine County. Revised construction schedules will be announced as soon as they are determined.
Due to concerns from local leaders and citizens, MnDOT is reevaluating the need for left turn lanes, sight distance improvements and sidewalks on the bridges. These needs are not adequately addressed by the current plans.
“It is never too late to discuss how a project meets the local needs,” said Michael Kalnbach, MnDOT project manager. “MnDOT will work with local leaders to modify the design to better fit the needs of the community.”
Work will proceed as previously scheduled for the resurfacing of I-35 and the reconstruction of the Snake River bridges beginning mid-April.
