This map provides an illustrative guide to new and existing traffic impacts set to occur throughout the Twin Cities during the upcoming weekend.

This weekend’s map covers a bit more than usual, from Fri, Nov. 16 through Mon, Nov. 26. We wanted to give you a heads up as many of you are making your Thanksgiving Holiday plans.

All projects and timelines are dependent on the weather and subject to change.

New this weekend

These impacts are new as of this weekend.

Hwy 3 in Inver Grove Heights

  • Beginning Fri, Nov. 16, Hwy 3 will reopen between Co. Rd. 26 and 60th St.

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

  • Beginning 10 p.m. Fri, Nov. 16, I-35W is closed between I-94 and Hwy 62 through 5 a.m. Mon, Nov. 19.

I-35 North Metro Split from Lino Lakes to Forest Lake

  • Beginning 7 p.m. Fri, Nov. 16, Hwy 97 is closed at I-35 for bridge removal through 5 a.m. Mon, Nov. 19.
    • There will be no access to/from I-35 at Hwy 97. 
  • Beginning 7 p.m. Fri, Nov. 16, both directions of I-35, just north and south of the Hwy 97 bridge, will be reduced to a single lane using the Hwy 97 exit and entrance ramps through 5 a.m. Mon, Nov. 19.

Hwy 55 Minneapolis to Rockford

  • The left lane of Hwy 55 is now open in both directions between Winnetka Ave. and Revere Ln.
  • Beginning 6 a.m. Sat, Nov. 17, the ramp from Hwy 55 to SB Hwy 169 is closed through 7 p.m. the same day.

I-94 at Hwy 61 in St Paul

  • Beginning 7 a.m. Sat, Nov. 17, the ramp from EB I-94 to SB Hwy 61 is closed through 5 p.m. Sun, Nov. 18.
  • Beginning 7 a.m. Sat, Nov. 17, EB I-94 right Lane closed between SB Hwy 61 and Johnson Pkwy. through 5 p.m. Sun, Nov. 18.

Hwy 149/High Bridge (St. Paul to Mendota Heights)

  • Beginning 6 p.m. Fri, Nov. 16, Dodd Rd./Hwy 149 between Staples Ave. and Ivy Falls Ave. will reopen, weather permitting.

I-494 Inver Grove Heights and South St. Paul

  • Beginning 5 a.m. Sat, Nov. 17, WB I-494 is reduced to two lanes between Blaine Ave. and Hardman Ave. through 5 p.m. the same day.

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

  • Beginning 10 p.m. Mon, Nov. 26, WB I-94 is closed between I-35W and I-394 through 5 a.m. Tue, Nov. 27.

Hwy 47 and Hwy 65 in Minneapolis

  • Beginning Mon, Nov. 19, crews will finish work on the intersection at University Ave. and Broadway Ave.

These projects have already begun and continue to have traffic impacts.

Hwy 7 Minnetonka to St. Louis Park

  • Crews are working on adding pedestrian safety measures near Texas Ave. in St. Louis Park. It includes adding fence and lighting. No more lane closures should be needed this year.

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

  • Access to downtown (5th Ave. S.) is closed from NB I-35W through summer 2019. SB I-35W is reduced to two lanes from downtown Minneapolis to 43rd St. through fall 2019. NB I-35W is reduced to three lanes from 43rd St. to downtown Minneapolis through fall 2021.
  • Here are some of the ramp closures:
  • 28th St. is closed between Stevens Ave. and Clinton Ave. and the 28th St. bridge over I-35W is closed through June 2019.
    • DetourBlaisdell Ave. to Lake St. to 4th Ave
  • The following bridges are closed:
  • There are several other road, lane, ramp and local street closures.

I-35 in Harris

  • I-35 in both directions will have off-peak daytime lane closures between Harris and the Chisago/Pine County line through fall 2018.

I-35 North Metro Split from Lino Lakes to Forest Lake

  • SB I-35 is reduced to two lanes between Hwy 8 and Hwy 97 through fall 2018.
    • The Forest Lake Rest Area from SB I-35 also is closed through December.

I-35W Minneapolis to Roseville

  • Temporary striping will occur through Fri, Nov. 16. No traffic impacts are expected.

I-35W Minnesota River Bridge - Burnsville to Bloomington

  • SB I-35W is reduced from four lanes to three lanes between 106th St. and Cliff Rd. through summer 2021.
  • The ramp from 106th St. to SB I-35W is closed through summer 2021. Follow detour using NB I-35W, 98th St, to access SB I-35W.
  • I-35W will have alternating lane closures in both directions between Cliff Rd. in Burnsville and 106th St. in Bloomington daily. After 10 p.m. each night I-35W may be reduced to a single lane through 6 a.m. the following day. These nightly lane closures will occur through December.
  • Note: The I-35W Minnesota River Bridge will remain open to three lanes of traffic (one MnPASS lane) during peak travel times in both directions for the duration of the project. If you live near Minnesota River Bridge you may hear noise from jackhammering as crews work to remove the barrier and load out rubble from the center median on both sides of the river.

I-35W Roseville to Blaine/Lino Lakes

  • I-35W in both directions will have off-peak night time lane closures between Mounds View and Blaine/Lino Lakes through fall 2018.

Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge

  • The Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge over the St. Croix River between Stillwater, MN and Houlton, WI is closed to ALL traffic. It will reopen for pedestrian and bicycle traffic in June of 2019.
  • Traffic has been transferred to the new St. Croix Crossing Bridge to the south in Oak Park Heights.

Hwy 55 Minneapolis to Rockford

  • Watch for short-term lane closures through spring 2019.

Hwy 62 in Eden Prairie and Edina

  • Watch for single lane closures in both directions of Hwy 62 during the day and overnight from I-494 to Hwy 100 through spring 2019.

Hwy 65 in Fridley

  • Access from the West Service Drive on Hwy 65 to 63rd Ave. is closed through November. Traffic is restricted to a single southbound lane on the West Service Drive. NB traffic is detoured.

Hwy 149/High Bridge (St. Paul to Mendota Heights)

  • The Hwy 149 High Bridge is closed through December 2018.
    • Primary Detour: Annapolis St. to Robert St to Kellogg Blvd to West 7th St. to Smith Ave/Hwy 149
  • Dodd Rd./Hwy 149 is closed to thru traffic between Delaware Ave. and Wentworth Ave. through December 2018 (weather permitting).
  • An Xcel Energy project is underway along Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. Motorists should anticipate the following traffic impacts due to project work:
    • Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. at Delaware Ave. is closed to relocate the gas main through November, weather permitting. Crews will work to restore the disrupted area after the gas main is relocated.
  • There are several other road, lane and trail/sidewalk closures.
