This map provides an illustrative guide to new and existing traffic impacts set to occur throughout the Twin Cities during the upcoming weekend.

Please make sure to plan ahead and know your route before your travels this weekend! And don't forget to slow down in work zones.

All projects and timelines are dependent on the weather and subject to change.

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

  • Beginning 10 p.m. Fri, Sept. 21, I-94 is closed in both direction between I-394 and I-35W through 5 a.m. Sat, Sept. 22.
    • Detour: I-35W to Hwy 62 to Hwy 100 to I-394
  • Beginning Thu, Sept. 20, Franklin Ave. has reduced lanes at the intersection of 4th Ave.

I-35E in Little Canada

  • The ramp from NB I-35E to EB Hwy 36 is now open.

I-35W Minneapolis to Roseville

  • Beginning 7 p.m. Fri, Sept. 21, SB I-35W will close two lanes between 4th St. and Co. Rd. C through 11 a.m. Sat, Sept. 22.
  • Beginning 7 p.m. Fri, Sept. 21, NB I-35W will close two lanes between 4th St. and Co. Rd. C through 8 a.m. Sun, Sept. 23.

Hwy 62 in Eden Prairie and Edina

  • Beginning 8 p.m. Fri, Sept. 21, EB Hwy 62 is closed between I-494 and Hwy 100 for paving through 5 a.m. Mon, Sept. 24.

Hwy 65 in Ham Lake and East Bethel

  • Work has begun on left turn lane extensions at the following locations. During the work, motorists will encounter temporary shoulder closures and lane closures as well as short-term closures at cross streets.
    • 147th Ave/Andover Blvd. (NB)
    • Constance Blvd/Co. Rd. 60 (NB)
    • Crosstown Blvd/Co. Rd. 18 (NB/SB)
    • Sims Rd/Co. Rd. 86 (NB/SB)

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

  • Beginning 10 p.m. Mon, Sept. 24, SB I-35W will be closed between I-94 and Hwy 62 through 5 a.m. Tue, Sept. 25.
    • Detour: WB I-94 to WB I-394 to SB Hwy 100 to EB Hwy 62

Hwy 55 Minneapolis to Rockford

  • The right lane of Hwy 55 in both directions from Theodore Wirth Pkwy. to Schaper Rd. will reopen Tue, Sept. 25.

Hwy 62 in Eden Prairie and Edina

  • Beginning Mon, Sept. 24, the Tracy Ave. bridge will be closed through Sat, Sept. 29.

I-94 near Rogers

  • Beginning 9 p.m. Tue, Sept. 25, I-94 will be reduced to a single lane west of Rogers as crews repair concrete through 4 a.m. the next day.
    • The Minnesota State Patrol will be conducting extra enforcement in the mile-long work zone to keep motorists speeds at a safe level.

I-494 East Bush Lake Road

  • Beginning 4 a.m. Mon, Sept. 24, the ramp from East Bush Lake Rd. to EB I-494 will be closed through Sun, Oct. 14.
    • Detour: Industrial Blvd. to hwy 100.

Hwy 7 Minnetonka to St. Louis Park

  • Watch for lane closures on Hwy 7 from Baker Road to Louisiana from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. daily. Accesses to local streets may be closed temporarily through late-September. Crews could be striping during overnight hours. This can create noise.
  • Watch for alternating single-lane closures between 12th Ave. and Louisiana Ave. until Sept. 21.

Hwy 8 Forest Lake and Taylors Falls

  • Two drainage improvement projects are scheduled on Hwy 8 in Chisago and Washington Counties through December 2018. Expect lane and ramp closures during project work.
    • Note: Local access to businesses and homes within the project area will be maintained during both project closures

35W@94: Downtown to Crosstown in Minneapolis

  • The access to downtown (11th St/5th Ave. S/E. Grant St) from NB I-35W is closed through mid- to late Oct. 2018 and the access out of downtown (from 12th St./4th Ave.) to SB I-35W is closed through fall 2021.
  • WB I-94 is reduced to two lanes from Chicago Ave. to Nicollet Ave. through mid- to late Oct. 2018. SB I-35W is reduced to two lanes from downtown Minneapolis to 43rd St. through fall 2019. NB I-35W is reduced to three lanes from 43rd St. to downtown Minneapolis through fall 2021.
  • Here are some of the ramp closures:
    • EB I-94 to SB I-35W is closed through fall 2021.
      • Detour: NB I-394 to WB Hwy 100 to SB Hwy 62

I-35 in Harris

  • I-35 in both directions will have off-peak daytime lane closures between Harris and the Chisago/Pine County line through fall.

I-35 North Metro Split from Lino Lakes to Forest Lake

  • SB I-35 is reduced to two lanes separated by a concrete barrier between Hwy 8 and Hwy 97 through fall.
    • The Forest Lake Rest Area from SB I-35 also is closed during this project work.

I-35W Minneapolis to Roseville

  • NB/SB I-35W is reduced by one lane between 4th St. and Co. Rd. C through Fri, Oct. 12, when weekend closures are not occurring.
  • The following ramps to/from NB I-35W will be closed from 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. Mon. through Fri. through Fri, Oct. 12 (these ramps will not be closed consecutively):
    • 4th St. SE
    • SE 11th St.
    • Johnson St/New Brighton Blvd/Stinson Blvd.
    • Industrial Blvd.

I-35W Minnesota River Bridge - Burnsville to Bloomington

  • I-35W will have alternating lane closures in both directions between Cliff Rd. in Burnsville and 106th St. in Bloomington daily. After 10 p.m. each night I-35W may be reduced to a single lane through 6 a.m. the following day. These nightly lane closures will occur through late-September.

Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge

  • The Hwy 36 Stillwater Lift Bridge over the St. Croix River between Stillwater, MN and Houlton, WI is closed to ALL traffic. It will reopen for pedestrian and bicycle traffic in June of 2019.
  • Traffic has been transferred to the new St. Croix Crossing Bridge to the south in Oak Park Heights.

Hwy 47 and Hwy 65 in Minneapolis

  • Crews are replacing sidewalks, signals and making accessibility improvements on four intersections along Central Ave. (Hwy 65) and University Ave. (Hwy 47) in Minneapolis. Crews will work on one corner at a time and move around the intersection until work is complete at all corners.
    • Motorists should expect short-term closures and some delays.

  • Watch for short-term lane closures through fall 2018.

Hwy 62 in Eden Prairie and Edina

  • Expect directional road closures along Hwy 62 between Hwy 100 and I-494 each weekend in September.

Hwy 65 in Fridley

  • Access from the West Service Drive on Hwy 65 to 63rd Ave. is closed through mid-October. Traffic is restricted to a single southbound lane on the West Service Drive. NB traffic is detoured. The sidewalk is closed on the north side of W. Moore Lake Dr. Pedestrians can cross to the sidewalk on the south side of the road.

Hwy 65 in Ham Lake and East Bethel

  • The center median of Hwy 65 is closed at 157th Ave. Right turns only allowed from Hwy 65 and 157th Ave. through fall. Follow signed detour.
  • The center median at Hwy 65 is closed at 187th Ln. until late October.
    • NB traffic will continue north on Hwy 65 and use the newly constructed median crossover to travel south on Hwy 65 to reach 187th Ln. SB traffic will continue south to 181st Ave./Baltimore St. to reach 187th Ln. The new SB median crossover is under construction.
  • Work at the intersection of Hwy 65 and 187th Ave. will continue through fall.

I-94 East Metro (Woodbury to St. Paul)

  • All major road construction is complete. However, crews are finishing up several minor wrap-up items over the next few weeks. Work is expected to be complete by late September.

Hwy 95/Manning Ave. Woodbury to Denmark Twp.

  • Hwy 95 is closed in both directions from Bailey Rd. to 70th St. and will reopen in late September.
    • Primary Detour: 70th St, Woodbury Dr. (Co. Rd. 19), Bailey Rd.

Hwy 149 High Bridge in St. Paul

  • The Hwy 149 High Bridge is closed through December 2018.
    • Primary Detour: Annapolis St. to Robert St to Kellogg Blvd to West 7th St. to Smith Ave/Hwy 149
  • An Xcel Energy project is underway along Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. Motorists should anticipate the following traffic impacts due to project work:
    • Hwy 149/Dodd Rd. at Delaware Ave. is closed to relocate the gas main through early October.
  • There are several other road, lane and trail/sidewalk closures.

Hwy 169 in Belle Plaine, Jordan

  • Hwy 169 is a single lane with motorists traveling on their own side of Hwy 169 south of Hwy 282 in Jordan to north of Hwy 25 in Belle Plaine (weather permitting) through the end of September. There will still be no left turns in this area.
  • NB Hwy 169 from Hwy 19 in Blakely Township to Hwy 25 in Belle Plaine is a single lane through late September.
  • SB Hwy 169 from south of Hwy 25 to Hwy 19 in Blakely Township is open and left turns are allowed.
    • Note: The access to Meridian St. will remain closed with the detour posted at Hwy 25.

Hwy 169 in Champlin

  • Watch for temporary non-peak lane closures on SB Hwy 169 from Hayden Lake Rd. to Hwy 610 through late-September.

  • MnDOT will be updating and replacing overhead signs above specific highways and interstates in five counties through mid-October.
