Overview

The Public Transit Participation Program provides financial assistance for public transit services. This grant program supports capital, planning and operations of transit systems in small and large urban areas and in rural areas outside of the 7-county Twin Cities metropolitan area.

Who is eligible to apply

  • Operators of public transportation services
  • Tribal governments
  • State or local governments
  • Private nonprofit organizations
  • Private operators of public transportation services

2019 Special Solicitation

Public Transit Capital Vehicle & Facility Grant Application

Nov. 16, 2018 – Jan. 15, 2019

The MnDOT Office of Transit and Active Transportation has announced the 2019 Public Transit Special Solicitation Capital Vehicle and Facility Grant funding opportunities to supplement funding already awarded based on calendar year 2019 Management Plan Applications for transit systems in Greater Minnesota.

Applications must be completed and submitted through the Black Cat system by the final due date Jan. 15, 2019.

Transit Project Managers are available to provide guidance and technical assistance with the application. Transit systems are encouraged to submit applications to Transit Project Managers by Jan. 1, 2019, two weeks prior to the final due date, in order to receive the maximum level of technical assistance, including a detailed review to ensure applications are complete prior to the final due date.

2020 Public Transit Participation Program

Information about the calendar year 2020 Public Transit Participation Program will be available in Spring of 2019.
