Welcome to the Office of Transit

The role of the Office of Transit is to provide transportation alternatives to driving alone so people can live independently and participate fully in Minnesota’s communities and economy. The goals of the state transportation system include providing transit services throughout the state to meet the needs of transit users. The Office's grant programs provide operating and capital assistance to fund public transit service outside the Twin Cities metropolitan area and capital assistance to non-profit organizations to fund vehicles to transport elderly and persons with disabilities statewide. The Office of Transit also maintains a statewide system plan for bicycle transportation, supports bicycle and pedestrian systems, and promotes non-travel alternatives such as teleworking.
