Maps displaying annual average daily traffic (AADT) and heavy commercial average daily traffic (HCADT) as well as program information and GIS resources.


Traffic Forecasting
Maps depicting locations where truck highway traffic forecast have been completed. Maps show location, forecast number, and 20-year equivalent single axle loads.


Automatic Traffic Recorder
Data collected from continuous traffic counting stations located on interstates, trunk highways county state-aid highways and municipal state-aid streets at various locations throughout the state.

Traffic Reports
Various reports including: Monthly ATR Report, New Piezo Analysis Report, Determination of Seasonal Adjustment Factor Report, and Annual VMT Report.


Weigh-In-Motion (WIM)
Data collected from continuous traffic counting sites located on interstates, US routes, and Minnesota routes throughout the state. These sites collect data on vehicle volume, class, speed and weight.

Vehicle Classification

The classification of traffic by vehicle types, i.e. cars, pickups, 3 axle semis, etc. The data collected from various sites located on interstates, trunk highways and county state-aid highways at various locations throughout the state. The vehicle classification data is used to produce the HCAADT flow map, vehicle classification reports, seasonal adjustment factors, and traffic forecasts.

= CSAH/County Road

= Update sites (6 year cycle, summer)
Vehicle Classification History

  • Sites by route, description, Mn/DOT District, county, year
  • Various cycles of counts back to 1983
  • Included is year of next count cycle
  • 1 = Manual count (usually 16 hour weekday count)
  • 2 = Tube count (usually 48 hour weekday count)
