St. Croix Crossing Weekly Project Update (May 24, 2013)
The St. Croix River Crossing Project has crews continuing bridge pier work closest to the Minnesota shoreline. Dock construction just north of Sunnyside Marina and north of the Xcel Energy Power Plant, for equipment access to the river, is complete. Caisson work is expected to begin June 3rd.
Beginning Friday, May 24th, buoys will be placed off the Minnesota shoreline to provide a designated work zone area, narrowing the river channel. A “No Wake” zone will also be put in place around the work zone area beginning on Friday, May 24th. For the safety of workers and the stability of equipment, boaters are asked to slow down and be mindful of the construction area. For more information on the river impacts: mndot.gov/stcroixcrossing
Land clearing adjacent to Minnesota Hwy 95 in Oak Park Heights continued this week. Work involves clearing trees and vegetation and removing pavement from the “village neighborhood” area located in Oak Park Heights between Hwy 36, Beach Rd, and Hwy 95, this site is the location for the future alignment of Hwy 95. This will remain an active construction zone through the end of the year. For safety concerns, unauthorized pedestrians and vehicles are prohibited from entering this area. Land preparation along Hwy 95 began this week in preparation for pipe construction work; land preparation work will begin east of Hwy 95 next week. Additional construction activity around the Hwy 95 and Hwy 36 junction is anticipated to begin in mid-June.
As part of land clearing, 59th St. N., between Stagecoach trail and Hwy 95, is now permanently closed.
