STILLWATER, Minn. – Bridge deck construction is now underway between Pier 13 and the east abutment on the Wisconsin bluff. The contractor is using a ringer crane to lift and place the box-like segments for this span.
Crews continue to construct the bridge deck at Piers 8-12 on the St. Croix River. They anticipate completing segment placement at Pier 9 near Minnesota land in mid-June.
There are 116 segments that make up the eastbound and westbound lanes at each pier location. As of June 6, 259 of 650 total segments have been placed for the river bridge deck.
Minnesota approach construction update
The contractor has completed placing pre-cast concrete segments at Pier 3 for the Highway 36 eastbound approach bridge. Construction crews have also begun building another stretch of the westbound off-ramp to Highway 95.
