New Bridge Information Online Map
By: Rick Kostohryz, MnIT @ MnDOT, State Aid
State Aid has developed and deployed a new Bridge Information online map for all structures in the state. Access the map through the MnDOT MnMAP map gallery at https://mndot.maps.arcgis.com/home/index.html. MnMAP includes many other map applications that may be of interest.
The Bridge Information Map displays Minnesota bridges on a web-based map and provides pertinent bridge information such as: scour, traffic, abutment, pier, condition, deck, superstructure, substructure, culvert and channel NBI values. Other map features include filter, drawing/markup, search and formatted printing. Additionally, links to bridge reports and Google Streetview are included.
Selecting a bridge by clicking it on the map or using the Search feature will display a pop-up box containing basic bridge information. The pop-up box also includes links to Hydraulic and Inspection/Inventory reports which provide even greater detail. Furthermore, the pop-up box provides a link to Google Map Streetview, an interactive panorama photograph of the structure area. Streetview is dependent on whether a given area has been photographed and digitized by Google. In remote areas of the state Streetview may not be available.
