The following is intended to serve as a general guide for developing a policy/plan to comply with the new traffic sign retroreflectivity requirements. These sample policies are not intended to serve as formal legal or engineering advice. Agencies are encouraged to adopt a policy comparable to the ones below, or one developed by a qualified consultant, prior to January 22, 2012.
A pending amendment to the code of federal regulations proposes to delay the deadline, but the final ruling is not expected to occur until early 2012, i.e. after January 22, 2012. An announcement will be provided once the final ruling has been made.
