Congestion
- 2019 Congestion Report (PDF)
Key Summary: Traffic congestion on freeways in the Twin Cities metropolitan area has marginally increased as the population of the seven-county metro area continues to increase. This report shows the percentage of congested freeways increased from 24.2 percent in 2018 to 24.4 percent in 2019. MnDOT defines congestion as traffic flowing at speeds less than or equal to 45 mph on a freeway or interstate.
