'We Put Your Ideas in Motion'
MnDOT Research Services & Library helps solve transportation problems by administering research projects for MnDOT and the Local Road Research Board.
We serve as a resource for MnDOT staff as well as city and county engineers, kick-starting research and shepherding projects to completion. At any given time, our staff manages approximately 190 research projects in progress, ranging from local initiatives to pooled-fund projects with other states, comprising both basic and applied research.

It is important to note that ours is not the only MnDOT office involved in research; other programs include:
- Office of Materials and Road Research
- Office of Traffic Safety and Technology
- Office of Maintenance

A word about our name:
MnDOT Research Services is organizationally combined with the MnDOT Library, and our official name is "Research Services & Library"; however, Research Services and the Library currently maintain their own separate websites. Throughout this website and in our publications, you may see the terms "Research Services" and "Research Services & Library" used interchangeably.
