Fairgoers tell MnDOT about favorite trips
Traveling from home to cabin, shopping and fair are popular responses
ST. PAUL, Minn. — More than 16,000 of those attending the Minnesota State Fair to date have visited the Minnesota Department of Transportation booth, and many have described their favorite “A to B,” or trip, to agency staff.
“Transportation is a key component in everyday life, whether we drive, bike, walk or use some other mode of travel to get where we’re going,” said Kevin Gutknecht, MnDOT communications director. “We want to know which trip, when one moves from A to B, is most important to our visitors.”
MnDOT staff either video tapes the visitor's response, or takes a photograph. Many of those videos and photos are then posted to MnDOT's Facebook page.
“We appreciate people sharing what A to B trips are important to them,” Gutknecht said. “It helps us do a better job of taking care of the public's transportation system, and reminds the public of how important transportation is for connecting them to what matters most.”
If you are interested in sharing your favorite transportation modes, routes and destinations, or if you want to learn more about transportation in general, visit the MnDOT booth in the Education Building at 1372 Cosgrove Street.
Fairgoers also can pick up the 2013-14 Minnesota State Highway map at the MnDOT booth as well as download a 511 traveler information app for Android and Apple smart phones.
