MnDOT sponsors workshop for veteran-owned small businesses


ST. PAUL, Minn.–Veteran small-business owners are invited to attend a workshop sponsored by the Minnesota Department of Transportation on Thursday, Jan., 31, from 1 p.m. to 4 p.m.


The workshop is at Hiway Federal Credit Union, 840 Westminster St., St. Paul. Registration begins at 12:30 p.m., or attendees can register at The event is free, however MnDOT encourages attendees to register due to space limitations.


This workshop is part of the veterans outreach project, which includes statewide-training to identify and verify veteran-owned small businesses and increase their participation on state funded projects.


The workshop will provide insights regarding:


"MnDOT contracted out more than $200 million in state-construction projects in 2012 that included veteran-owned small businesses," said Alex Tittle, deputy director of MnDOT’s Office of Civil Rights. “This project provides the state with a tangible way to thank military veterans for their sacrifice and help improve employment conditions for veterans across Minnesota.”
