Twin Cities roads experience seven pavement failures
Expect some delays, lane closures as crews repair pavement
ST. PAUL, Minn. — Maintenance crews are addressing pavement failures in at least seven locations in the Twin Cities metro area, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said. The incidents, which were caused by today’s high heat and humidity, have required lanes to be closed in at least two locations.
The locations are:
- Interstate 94 westbound at Dowling – left two lanes are closed
- Highway 169 southbound at 114th in Champlin – across two lanes
- Eden Prairie Road ramp to Highway 212 – across the whole ramp
- Snelling Avenue at Larpenteur Avenue – in the intersection
- Highway 169 northbound just north of Highway 610 at 101st – minor
- I-94 eastbound at Broadway – center two lanes
- I-94 westbound at Dupont - minor
MnDOT crews are on location, assessing the severity of the pavement failures. Motorists should avoid these areas if possible.
MnDOT reports another incident of pavement buckling at southbound Highway 15, south of Highway 10 near St. Cloud.
Due to minimal shutdown staffing, MnDOT anticipates longer response times.
