UPDATE: Several lanes closed on Interstate 94 due to pavement buckling

 

ST. PAUL, Minn. (3:35 p.m.) – The left two lanes of westbound Interstate 94 at Lowry Avenue and the left two lanes of eastbound I-94 at 49th Avenue in Minneapolis are closed due to pavement buckling from today’s high temperatures and humidity, the Minnesota Department of Transportation said.

 

MnDOT crews are on location, assessing the severity of the pavement failures. There is no estimate at this time for how long the closures will remain in effect.


Motorists should avoid these areas if possible.


Due to minimal staffing during the state government shutdown, MnDOT anticipates longer response times.
