Public hearing set for public review, comment on Mn/DOT's 20- year Greater Minnesota Transit Plan
ST. PAUL, Minn. - The Minnesota Department of Transportation will hold a video conference public hearing from 3 p.m.-7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 8, at 15 locations statewide to solicit comment on the 2010-2030 Greater Minnesota Transit Plan.
The plan sets a long-range vision for public transportation in small towns, large cities and rural areas across the state during the next 20 years. It identifies transit service needs and analyzes future levels of funding to meet those needs. Some key challenges considered in developing the plan include maintaining and expanding public transit; changing mobility needs of individuals; changing mobility needs of the workforce; changing transit options in Greater Minnesota; and coordination of services.
The public is invited to participate in the video conference public hearing at the following Mn/DOT district locations. At the hearing, participants will hear a presentation about the plan from Mn/DOT officials and can then provide comments regarding its content. Comments will be considered and then implemented into the final plan.

Part of this new project will be to estimate future revenues through 2030 and identify the gap between transit service needs and projected revenues. With the help of stakeholders, Mn/DOT will establish a transit investment program to prioritize the allocation of revenues based on investment goals and strategies.
