Open house for I-35W MnPASS express lane extension set for Sept. 23

As Mn/DOT prepares to launch MnPASS Express Lanes on I-35W between downtown Minneapolis and Burnsville Parkway on Sept. 30, officials are already planning to expand the program further south by 2012.

The public is invited to an open house to learn about the future I-35W MnPASS Express Lane expansion. The meeting will take place at 5 p.m., Wednesday, Sept. 23, at Burnsville City Hall, 100 Civic Center Parkway.

Mn/DOT is proposing to extend the MnPASS Express Lane on northbound I-35W from the I-35W/I-35E split to Burnsville Parkway in Burnsville. MnPASS Express Lanes currently operate on I-394 and 16 additional miles are scheduled to open Sept. 30 on I-35W between Burnsville Parkway and downtown Minneapolis.

The meeting, hosted by Mn/DOT and the city of Burnsville, is an opportunity to learn about the proposed extension and share ideas and concerns. Interested persons will also be able to learn more about the MnPASS system and sign-up for a MnPASS account. Mn/DOT and design consultant staff will be on hand to listen to public input and answer questions.

Project information is available for review on the Mn/DOT project Web site:
